Wind River (2017) is a gripping neo-western crime thriller set in the harsh winter landscape of the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming. The storyline follows Cory Lambert (Jeremy Renner), a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service tracker, after he discovers the frozen body of a young Native American woman.

The mysterious death draws FBI Special Agent Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olsen) to the reservation to investigate the case as a potential homicide. Unfamiliar with the area's rugged terrain and unique challenges, she enlists Lambert's expertise in navigating the wilderness and understanding the local community. Together they embark on a dangerous investigation within a community plagued by poverty, substance abuse and violence.

Written and directed by Taylor Sheridan (Sicario, Yellowstone), Wind River is a gritty and realistic portrayal of the challenges faced within Native American communities. Sheridan employs stunning cinematography and powerful performances to deliver an unflinching depiction of loss, justice and the complexities of human nature. Ultimately, his story serves as a prime vehicle for social commentary, shining a spotlight on the often-overlooked issue of violence against Native American women.
